If each of the around 150,000 Filipinos here in Hong Kong would encourage a friend to visit the Philippines, the country’s tourism industry will continue its momentum.
During the event last June 13, Consul General Noel Servigon said the Filipino presence here offers opportunities for the country’s tourism sector.
“We in the Philippine Consulate would like to encourage all our partners in the travel industry to make the most of the presence of our Filipinos here in Hong Kong. With 132,000 Filipinos here in Hong Kong, that’s really a very good resource that would help us in our campaign here,” Servigon told Hong Kong and Philippine-based travel agencies and hotel representatives.
Servigon explained that the promotional campaign “Bring home a friend’ is being worked out with the airlines and tour operators.
David Leung, Department of Tourism (DOT) director for Hong Kong and Macau, said the new promotional campaign will help boost Philippine tourism.
“They can bring home a friend, then they get special fares with the airlines. Hong Kong is a very small market and a lot of competitors. This Bring Home a Friend can be something special for the Philippine destinations,” Leung said.
