The Department of Tourism (DOT), along with Philippine-based travel agencies, hotels and airlines participated in the International Travel Expo last June 14 to 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai.
Maria Corazon Jorda-Apo, DOT’s director and group head for North America and Asia Pacific, explained that fun-loving Filipinos, varied cultural attractions, and 7,107 islands indeed make the country more fun.
From last year’s almost 4 million tourist arrivals, almost came from Northeast and Southeast Asia.
“Hong Kong is an important and vital source of tourism arrivals to the Philippines. We are targeting 13 percent increase for this year from this market,” Jorda-Apo said.
She added that Hong Kong tourists can enjoy the Philippines’ nature-based and cultural tourism, sun and beach destinations, adventurous activities, health and wellness services, as well as weddings and honeymoon destinations.
The Tourism director named Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Palawan and Manila as the country’s top tourist destinations.
